Abortion

The abortion issue is always a hot topic. It's one that seems to divide and polarize more than most. A presidential candidate's position on abortion has been used as a "litmus test" the last few elections. A presidential candidate could pretty well be "pigeon holed" if his stand on abortion could be confirmed. But my campaign may change that notion since we will be settling the important issues using the "Meet and Vote" program - which neutralizes my opinion. This will include the abortion issue if the American Taxpayers want to revisit it.

In case you haven't read about the "Meet and Vote" program (found in Index 1), it is a unique program designed to force the will of the people on Washington - including decisions made by the Supreme Court. [For a better understanding of how the decisions made by the Supreme Court will be influenced by the taxpayers, please go to Index 2 and click on the issue of "Eminent Domain".] This relegates the job of your elected representatives to enacting the will of the people, as it should be. But it also prevents the president from acting as a king and forcing his will on the people. Haven't we seen enough of that lately?

When the people decide that they want an issue addressed because they are unhappy with the direction that their leaders have taken them, the "Meet and Vote" program will be implemented. My job, as your president, will not be to tell you how things are going to be. I indeed will be responsible for the "Meet and Vote" process. But my purpose in the process is to make sure that the issue at hand is presented fairly and honestly by both sides and that the American Taxpayers are getting properly informed so that they can cast an informed vote. In this process my power is kept neutral, as is the power of your Congress. The power to decide the issue is turned over to the taxpayers, who are the real government in this country.

Since I will not be swaying the nation in one direction or the other concerning abortion, I'm not sure how important my personal views are on such controversial issues. However, I will have the power of one vote as all of you will. Therefore I will use this opportunity to disclose my personal views on the issue at hand. Besides, I figure that a lot of people want to know anyway.

As a Christian my views on abortion are pro-life, mostly. I say "mostly" because I can't bring myself to say that all abortions should be outlawed. I'm just being honest. As usual, life is never that cut and dry. We all like to see things in black and white but the real world is usually in shades of grey - if we are honest. The same goes for the abortion issue. There are exceptions to my pro-life stand.

If I put myself in the shoes of a woman who has been impregnated during a rape, I have to say that I probably wouldn't want the baby. That doesn't mean that it has to be destroyed by aborting it since it could be adopted out, but that is probably a decision that the government should not make for the woman. Likewise, if a woman is having physical problems because of the baby that she is carrying and her life is in jeopardy, a strict abortion law allowing no freedom to the woman or her doctor could cause the death of both mother and child. In these cases abortion is not so black and white.

The problem that I have with the way abortion has been used since it became legalized in the early 1970's is one that I think most pro-life people have. What we have seen is the abortion of children as a means of birth control when women end up pregnant out of wedlock. We've especially seen the black community targeted. Since the 1960's sexual revolution our society has become increasingly immoral. Unfortunately our nation's women have been affected by this social shift. Unwanted children are a result of women becoming immoral. That's how it's always been and that's how it will always be. Abortion has been used as a means to get rid of the evidence so to speak. That's what is wrong in this whole scenario.

Let's be honest. All semantics aside (and all religion aside), we all know that a baby is dying when an abortion takes place. And we all know down deep that this is not good. It's not good for the woman's physical and mental health and it's not good for society. Women are not just some animal that can consciously kill the baby inside of her and then go about her business as if nothing happened. This is something that affects her for life, some much worse than others. Besides dealing with her sensitive conscience, physical problems that she may have to deal with due to her immorality (and the abortion) need to also be factored into the decision of aborting a child.

One of the main reasons that abortions affect society (besides the moral issue) is because every human that loses his or her life via abortion is one less taxpayer that can help spread the tax burden. Considering that between 35 and 50 million abortions have taken place since 1973, that's a lot of dead taxpayers and a lot of tax money. [I apologize for entering money into such a sensitive issue, but it needs to be considered. It's my great concern for tax money and how it is used that will restore the federal government to sensible spending and help us pay off the national debt as soon as is possible.]

If the American Taxpayers let it be known that they want this issue revisited, we will address it using the "Meet and Vote" program. This process, mentioned above, will be used to settle a lot of issues, including all of the issues that you will find in Index 2 which require a vote. This program is unique to the American Taxpayer party and will allow the most fair decision making process available. In America the will of the majority takes precedence, not the will of the elected leaders - or the will of the president. The "Meet and Vote" program is designed to make sure of that.

[To understand the "Meet and Vote" program properly, please go to Index 1 and click on the "Meet and Vote" program button. This should be read and understood before reading about the issues in Index 2. It will alleviate any concerns that you may have that I am just another presidential candidate. This program, the very foundation of the American Taxpayer party movement and the platform of my campaign, is designed to return the power of government to the people. It negates any hidden agenda of any of your elected representatives, any appointed officials, and the president.]
