Family
Building a strong, enduring society requires strong, enduring families. Without strong families a society breaks down from within. There is no way around this - if you want a high quality society. You and I have been watching our society crumble from within at the same pace that we have watched the American family crumble. No amount of help from psychologists or psychiatrists can save us. There is no magic that we can turn to. If our families continue to crumble, our society will continue to crumble. There is no way around it.
Our founding fathers understood the importance of strong families. They understood that it was of the utmost importance, to society, that a husband and wife stick it out through easy times and through tough times, for the children's sake if nothing else. They understood that it is best for children to be raised in the security of their home and to be raised by their own parents. This is what makes normal children. This is what makes children who don't have strange psychological problems to deal with. Children raised by their own parents, in a normal home setting, have an advantage in life over those who aren't. "Dysfunctional" children may play catch up for their entire life.
This was common sense to our founding fathers. Their lives revolved around their families, because family is what matters most in this world. Today that has all changed and we have been watching the result of going against what our founding fathers knew to be right. They built up a strong society through their willingness to do what is right, even if they didn't get their way. We have been tearing down that strong society through selfishness and greed - and an unwillingness to raise children within a normal family unit. This is not rocket science, but returning America to it's former (internal) strength will require that we take a look at where we came from and why our founding fathers succeeded at something we are not able to - building a strong society.
Anyone who was around back then knows that the family break down began in the 1960's with the coming of "me-ism". That's when the idea of a normal family was called into question by so many "experts" who began pushing their "progressive" views of what a family should be. The idea that a family consisted of a husband, wife and children was under attack by those "experts" who thought they knew better. The idea that it is in the best interest of the children to be raised by their mother went by the wayside as mothers were talked into "being themselves" and being "free". Many American women decided that they could find more fulfillment in working out in the work force, setting aside the most important job that anyone can do in a society - raise children. Motherhood began to be looked at as a lesser calling.
Since then it's been a gradual decline for the family. And, of course, the nation has gone downhill along with the family. That's just how it works. I hate to tell you this, but our founding fathers were right and we are wrong. We've been wrong since the 1960's. We think that we are smarter than them, considering them to be old fashion. After all, look at the technology that we have developed. But as we look around us, none of us really likes what we see. Our society is indeed crumbling from within. We all know it.
Where are we at today, some 40 or 50 years later? Well, it's a different nation now. The people are different. Our innocence is gone. That is bound to happen when so much of the population is running fast and wild. We are not as good of people as those who came before us. How could we be when we now stand against everything that they held so dear - marriage for life and children raised by their mother?
What do you think our founding fathers would say about a society that has a 50% divorce rate? Can you imagine a society that allows homosexuals to "marry" or raise children? Have we gone mad? What would our founding fathers say? Didn't they make sodomy completely illegal throughout the land? They understood the devastating affects of sodomy on the individual and on society. What would they think about a culture who's standards are established by the nation's youth and the entertainment industry? Might they think that we are stupid or mentally inept?
What would our founding fathers say about a society that allows the free distribution of pornography? And then pretends that children won't see it? I don't think that they would believe that Americans could sink that low. Do we think that we are so smart that we can get away with destroying the moral fabric of our nation - and then expect all to be well? What would our founding fathers think of such reasoning? I fear that we have let them down. Our actions over the last 40 years (collectively, none of us are innocent) are what has brought us to the point that we are at as a society.
So what are we going to do about it? We can continue to watch our nation fall apart from within. Or we can make some changes. It's our choice. It is my opinion that the great majority of American Taxpayers don't like what they've seen happening to our country in the last few decades. It is also my opinion that the great majority of American Taxpayers know what needs to be changed. Lastly, I am of the opinion that the great majority of American Taxpayers want to change the direction of our society. They're just looking for a leader.
All of the "freedom" of the 1960's has not quite worked out like we thought it would. It was wishful thinking but somehow we, as a society, forgot to factor in the consequences that accompany right and wrong. The American Taxpayers are not stupid they've just been railroaded by a minority who has the power to influence minds and wills - and change American society. Therefore we will address this problem (together) when I take office in 2008. We'll use the "Meet and Vote" program.
I suppose that this problem has not been addressed previously because our nation's previous presidents have not made it a priority. Either that or they have been too cowardly to confront those who have the power of influence. Our leaders have been too focused on trying to save the world and too busy trying to "globalize" everyone. I am not a globalist and I am not concerned with the internal affairs of other nations. So I will make time to address this problem and let the people have a say in what we should do to get our nation back on the correct course so that future generations have a strong society. And we will make this issue a priority.
We will address this problem using the "Meet and Vote" program that I am offering as the platform of my campaign. This involves nationally televised meetings between the American Taxpayers and their elected leaders. These meetings will always have a live audience of American Taxpayers as well as open communication with the viewers at home via the telephone and the internet. This way questions can be asked and statements can be made by those taxpayers who want to voice their opinion. The "Meet and Vote" program is designed to return the power of the government back to the people.
We'll talk about the changes that have taken place over the last 40 years. We'll talk about why they happened and the results of the changes. We'll talk about solutions and what the American Taxpayers expect from their Congress and their president. These meetings promise to be lively and educational. When we have talked about it and talked about it some more and when your Congress understands what the people want, some options will be given - to be voted on. Then the American Taxpayers will vote on the direction that they would like to see our nation take. The decision of the majority will rule as usual when using the "Meet and Vote" program. The will of the people will be enacted into law by the Congress (if any laws need to be changed). Changes to cultural influence will be adopted accordingly.
The decision to make some societal changes is going to be up to you folks. If you want no change, then that is what you will get. I am not going to force a government mandated change on society. If you want some change, then we will do it together. The "Meet and Vote" program will give us the opportunity to address the breakdown of the American family and do something about it. Just keep in mind that we can't have it both ways. A better society will require better families. Better families require commitment and dedication. And that means hard work. But is there anything too hard for Americans when they put their minds to it? America has a bright future if that's what we want. It's up to us. Please consider the American Taxpayer party movement in 2008.
