How to Get Involved/Survey

History has shown us that when it comes time to vote for a new president the media exposure for third party candidates is very minimal. Therefore third party candidates have to be resourceful. We, the American Taxpayer party, know that we are not going to get any media exposure so we are going to make our own exposure by using the internet - and by relying on your help to spread the word.

We are not asking for your money, but we are asking you to tell others (other ways of involvement are described below). You may also want to know that we are not accepting any financial donations from any businesses at all. Wouldn't that be the fastest way to tarnish the integrity of this movement?

The reasoning behind our stand on donations is that we could never compete financially with the Democrats and Republicans without constantly begging for donations. Even then we wouldn't come close to their resources, so there is no reason to pretend that we can. Since we think that we can run a successful campaign over the internet and by word of mouth there is no reason to ask for your money. Nevertheless, we cannot be successful without your involvement.

This is a grass roots movement of the people, by the people and for the people. We need your help getting the word out about this website and this campaign. If you don't get involved by just telling others we don't have a chance to win in 2008. However, if you do get involved, there is no reason that we can't win. History proves that movements of the people work if the people make them work. But people have to know that we're out there. The internet is the answer to that problem. With your help, word will spread very rapidly.

"President Tony" is not a politician, has never desired to be a politician and does not want to be a politician as we think of them today. He's just not made to play the part. He is an average American Taxpayer just like you who thinks that he can do a better job of running this country than what he's seen in the last couple of decades. He is running for president in 2008 because he thinks that he has a legitimate chance to win thanks to the principle behind the "Meet and Vote" program (which gives the taxpayers the opportunity to make the decisions on issues that our elected leaders keep putting off or can't get right).

"President Tony" thinks that this is the time that the American people want a say so in important issues that affect them and the future of our country. He thinks that this is the time for the will of the people to take the lead in Washington. He also thinks that this is the time for real change. He thinks this is the perfect time for the "Meet and Vote" program. If the American Taxpayers prove by their voting in 2008 that they don't like the "Meet and Vote" program he will simply fade from the public eye and go back to normal life after the election.

Here is the key to the success of the American Taxpayer party movement. It amounts to you telling others and getting involved as described below. We have listed some basic ways that you can get involved if you would like to. Your level of involvement depends on you. You might even have some better ideas (which we'd like to hear). We think that the 2008 election is the time that the American Taxpayers will be looking for something other than the same old tomfoolery that has gotten our nation in the mess that it is in.

We believe that any other election in the last 40 years would not have been as favorable to such a movement because the people weren't looking for real change. We don't know what the future holds but it is unlikely that 2012 will be as favorable as the 2008 election. As a matter of fact, at this time we believe that if the American Taxpayers don't catch the vision of the American Taxpayer party and the unique "Meet and Vote" program over the next 2 years and don't see the great advantages of this movement, then it will be a waste of everybody's time to repeat this campaign again in 2012. If the novel "Meet and Vote" approach to the presidency doesn't appeal to the American Taxpayers, then so be it. The first step, however, is to inform the public and see what they think. We are going all out during the next 2 years to get our movement before the people. Obviously we need your help. Please tell others about www.taxpayerparty.com.

Ways you can get involved/help spread the word

  • Word of mouth. This is the easiest way to get involved and should never be underestimated. Telling friends, family and coworkers will be of the utmost importance if this movement is to succeed.
  • Telling others on the internet. We all know that word spreads like wild fire on the internet. Send everyone you know an email. Contacting news related websites with information about the new American Taxpayer party movement will help spread the word quickly. Use your own imagination and internet experience to help spread the word. And thanks ahead of time for taking the time to do it.
  • Bumper stickers. We have made it a point to make bumper stickers available because they work so well. Bumper stickers work great for those who don't like to talk or argue politics. You can tell hundreds of your fellow American Taxpayers about this website without even saying anything by just putting a bumper sticker somewhere (they all have our web address on them). That's how well they work. They are far more effective than you think. They're out there for everyone to see but there's no arguing involved! As previously stated, all of our bumper stickers have this web address on them and we've made them very cheap. [See Index 1 - "Bumper Sticker campaign" to order bumper stickers.]
  • Be part of the effort to get "President Tony" on the ballot in your state. Most of the work that goes into choosing a presidential candidate for a political party can be bypassed since "President Tony" is the presidential candidate for the American Taxpayer party. There is no need for a convention, a primary, caucuses, delegates and the like since the candidate is "President Tony". Nevertheless, there is work to do. We need volunteers who would be willing to contact their Secretary of State to get information about getting "President Tony" on the ballot in their state. So many signatures will be needed to qualify for ballot status in each state (this varies from state to state). This level of involvement will require a time commitment on your part and we will need contact information since we will be in contact with you. We will also need to be able to put you in contact with others from your state who contact us about getting involved in this effort. You will all be working together to accomplish ballot status in your state. How you work together and who you put in charge of the state wide effort will be up to you and methods will most likely vary from state to state. We don't want to tell you how to do things in your state since you will know better than us. The more people that we can get involved from each state, the less work it will be for everyone who has chosen to get involved. The time you volunteer will be completely up to you. Some will be able to volunteer more time than others.
  • Mailing out bumper stickers. If you live in the St. Louis, Missouri area (especially in the vicinity of Kirkwood) and would like to volunteer your time, we could use your help mailing out bumper stickers and doing other office type work. Obviously experience is not needed, but those with computer skills and office experience will be able to help keep this a highly efficient effort. Detail oriented people are especially needed as the movement gets bigger and more complex. Contact us if you're interested.

If you are interested in doing volunteer work and you need to contact us, please see the contact information below. Anyone who contacts us can be assured that your name, address and any other information that you send us will be kept confidential. No one's information will be given or sold to anyone or any business for any reason. Your contact information will be kept on file here only. It will not be shared with anyone. No one will contact you asking for money. We will not betray your trust.
