Is A Third Party Vote A Wasted Vote?

We realize that there are many of you who will read the contents of this website and want to get involved, but think that you will be wasting your vote in 2008 if you don't vote Democrat or Republican. We can relate. That's why we have a plan that will allow you to support the new American Taxpayer Party and yet not waste your vote when that time comes in 2008.

Typically a third party vote is a wasted vote, let's be honest. The vast majority of the American Taxpayers have a mind set about the two party system and end up voting either Democrat or Republican. The small percentage of people who do vote third party to make a statement realize that their candidate doesn't actually have a chance to win.

The exception to that rule would be billionaire Ross Perot who ran back in the 90's and had plenty of money to actually reach the American public with his message. He was even allowed to partake in some of the nationally televised presidential debates. He grabbed a lot of votes (about 19% in 1992) away from the other two candidates, George Bush and Bill Clinton. But overall it's no wonder that the electorate tends to keep their eyes on the two party system. That's the way it's been for a long time - not to mention that there are some strange third party candidates, like the guy who ran in 2004 with a porn star as his running mate. He thought that one out real well.

Part of the problem for third party candidates is that they are not given equal media exposure and so people don't know enough about the third party candidates to intelligently vote for them. Thanks to the lack of media exposure the only name of a third party candidate that people tend to remember is Ralph Nader since his name always seems to surface around election time (not to mention that he's been a controversial personality since the early 1960's). Few know what he stands for, but that just proves the point. A little more media exposure and we might know what he stands for.

Hopefully there is enough information on this website to properly inform you about the new American Taxpayer party so that you will know exactly who and what you are voting for when 2008 rolls around. We are not expecting any media attention and that is why so much work has gone into this website.

Everything you need to know is right here. You can send your friends to this website and feel confident that they will get the correct information. As a matter of fact, we would advise against going to other sources if you want information about the American Taxpayer party since you can't be sure where their information came from. This is the only authorized information source for the new American Taxpayer party.

Since we are yet another third party we will surely run across the same problems that other third party candidates have faced. Especially since we are "the new kid on the block". Therefore we have devised a plan that will allow you to support us and yet not waste your vote. It's as simple as pie and this is how it works. We are asking you to support us and become involved by helping us get on the ballot in your state, telling others about this website, putting a bumper sticker on your car, or however you see fit and this will be the plan up until two weeks before the election. By then we will know if we have a fair chance to win the presidency.

If this grass roots movement takes off like we think it will, we will know what kind of support we have by the number of people who contact us, by the number of people who get involved, by media attention, etc. By then it will be obvious if we have a fair chance of winning. Exactly two weeks before the election we will change the content of the homepage. The new information on the homepage will alert you to the direction you should take when you vote.

The homepage content will change to inform you about how many states we were able to get registered in, how many signatures we have, how many people filled out the Survey on this website and other general information about how this campaign went. We will give you an honest estimate of what percentage of the American Taxpayers we expect to vote for the American Taxpayer party. You can use this information to decide whether you should continue your support or vote for one of the candidates running as Democrat or Republican.

We don't want you to waste your vote any more than you do. If our evaluation of the situation at that time is not favorable we will make it clear so that you can vote for one of the two major parties. At that point you will have two weeks to decide which way you would like to vote.

Remember, you can register as a Democrat or a Republican, but you can vote for anyone you want to for president (unlike the primaries where you are actually choosing who would be the best candidate for your registered party). This means that you can register under one of the two major parties as you usually would, but vote for the American Taxpayer party candidate. On the other hand, if you check this website two weeks before the election and the information that you glean from the homepage tells you that the American Taxpayer movement has not succeeded in gaining enough public support you can go ahead and vote for a Democrat or Republican. This way no one will waste their vote.

If we have indeed gained a lot of public support and have reached the ballot in all 50 states and if we feel confident that we have a fighting chance to win the election we will be sure to let you know (on the homepage). So to make this clear, please get involved as much as you can and give it all you've got. That's our plan. If it doesn't work out you will find out by reading the homepage two weeks before the election.

We are getting an early start, two years before the election, so we have plenty of time if you would like to get involved. This is a movement of American Taxpayers. That's you. This movement will fail if people like you don't get involved. If you want your country back and if you want your government back, now is the time to fight for it.

We believe that the 2008 election is the time for a third party candidate to change Washington. Circumstances for the 2012 election might not be so favorable. To see the various ways that you can get involved please go to Index 1 and click on "How to get Involved/Survey".
