"Meet and Vote" Program
The "Meet and Vote" program is the backbone of the American Taxpayer party movement. It is going to be implemented because the Congress, and those within the beltway in general, have lost touch with the needs and desires of the American Taxpayers who fund the federal government.
There are some very good individuals in Washington who are trying to do right. No one can deny that. Collectively, however, they have made a mess of things causing many of us to wonder in amazement at the stupid decisions that come from all of these intelligent, highly educated men and women.
Thanks to the "Meet and Vote" program the American Taxpayer party can offer the American Taxpayers what they have been looking for - real change bringing about government of the people, by the people, and for the people. Without the "Meet and Vote" program the American Taxpayer party movement is just another political party. With it, however, the American Taxpayer party is set apart from the others.
The American Taxpayer party and it's "Meet and Vote" program revolve around the belief that the majority of the American Taxpayers would make the proper decisions on the issues that face us if they were properly informed about them and were given the opportunity to decide these issues. Because of the "Meet and Vote" program the American Taxpayers will get the chance to prove this since they will indeed get the opportunity to vote on them. We believe that this drastic measure will be required to bring about real change for the 2008 - 2012 administration.
From time to time any government needs to be corrected in this way or that due to the fact that they are run by human beings. Our government is no exception. Greed, hunger for power, corruption, bribery, the love of money, and displays of sexual immorality did not start with the United States government. Nevertheless, once it is exposed it must be dealt with lest the working people lose heart.
We don't need to have a rebellion or a revolt of any type like other nations have at times because we don't want to change our form of government nor do we want anyone tampering with our Constitution. We have a better idea for change. That's where the "Meet and Vote" program comes in. Thanks to this "Meet and Vote" program the 2008 presidential election is our chance for real change.
It's our big chance to do an end run around the squabbling, bickering and finger pointing of our legislators who seem to have such a hard time settling the issues that we want settled - like the questionable wars that we have found ourselves in and the invasion of foreigners from the south. It's our chance to neutralize the hundreds of shameless lobbyists who do what it takes to sway our leaders away from the will of the people so that the agenda of special interests are accomplished.
Also, thanks to the "Meet and Vote" program, this is our chance to get around legislators with hidden agendas, around the political polarization in Washington and around judges who think that they can use the Judiciary to legislate. Most importantly the "Meet and Vote" program will not allow a run away president since the decisions on all issues will be voted on by the American Taxpayers - reducing the vote of the president (and each member of Congress) to one vote among 300,000,000 when it comes time to go to war, use tax money frivolously, send jobs overseas or make other decisions that are not in the best interest of the American Taxpayers. In short, the "Meet and Vote" program is the real fix for real change in Washington.
In the past we have voted in a president that we thought (or hoped) had all of the answers. We need a different mindset for the 2008 election because of the condition of our country. This time around we don't need someone who thinks he can decide everything for the American Taxpayers. This time around we need a different decision making process so that we can get our country back on track.
This time around we need a president who will allow the American Taxpayers the opportunity to vote on the issues that affect them since the people have become suspicious and rightfully cynical, knowing that their tax money is being wasted and knowing that many in Washington do not have their best interests at heart. This is the time in our history when the people need to feel like they are being given the opportunity to correct our nation's course.
The "Meet and Vote" program will give the American Taxpayers the opportunity to decide what to do about Iraq (if it is still an issue in 2008), what to do about the invasion of South and Central Americans, whether they want the new eminent domain law overturned, what to do about American jobs that our failed global policies have sent abroad, what stand needs to be taken about really protecting our women and children from the growing number of perverts running loose in our society thanks to soft hearted laws and judges, what kind of penalties should be applied to big oil companies if in fact they are gouging the people on gas prices and all of the other issues that the American Taxpayers want a chance to decide.
It's just time to dictate to our leaders what we want since they have refused to lead us properly and have proven that our tax money does not mean as much to them as it should. We believe that this approach is necessary in 2008 because the American Taxpayers have lost too much confidence in their leaders. This not only applies to our current leaders but goes back for the last 30 years or so. It's clear that this stuff didn't happen over night.
Anyone can plainly see that Washington is out of touch with the American Taxpayers, who feel like their primary responsibility is to pay the bills for all of this tomfoolery and hang on for the ride - on this run away train we call the federal government. If left unchecked, wayward governments typically end up at odds with the people and eventually the people get tired of it and rebel in one form or another. The 2008 election is the time to "check" our government before things get out of hand.
None of us wants to change the U.S. Constitution or our form of government but we think it's time to look for new direction within our federal government. We can avoid any type of rebellion by just taking over the White House in the 2008 election. Once we get the American Taxpayer presidential candidate in the White House, he can implement the "Meet and Vote" program that is the backbone and foundation of this movement. It will allow the American Taxpayers the opportunity to bypass what has been going on in Washington for a long time. There are 3 steps in the "Meet and Vote" process and this is how it works:
1) Choosing an issue: Issues of great importance to the American Taxpayers will be chosen one at a time to be discussed on national television for all to view. For example, if the Iraq war is still in progress in 2008 it will be the first issue to be addressed since it is the hottest topic. If the Iraq war has been settled by 2008 and a new hot topic comes into play by then it will be addressed first.
Pressing issues that the American Taxpayers want settled will receive priority status so that they can plainly see that the federal government is actually doing what the people want. The plan at this time is to address one issue per month so that we can settle all of the issues that the American Taxpayers want settled in one four year term. This will be subject to change as we see how the "Meet and Vote" program plays out in the real world due to "red tape" and bureaucracy. The idea is not to rush through them but to address them correctly so that the American Taxpayers are properly informed when it comes time to vote on them.
2)Meeting about the issue: The leaders and the American Taxpayers will "Meet" via honest and open nationally televised meetings concerning the issue at hand. There will also be a live audience at each meeting so that the leaders can be asked questions. Questions will also be taken by email if they are different from the audience and/or shed new light on the issue at hand.
The meetings will be designed to allow the leaders (Democrat and Republican) to plead their case to the American Taxpayers. Ranking Democrat and Republican leaders will choose the featured speakers to present their respective views on each issue so that no one can claim any bias. It will be up to the leaders to make the proper decision concerning who will speak for them (this may change from issue to issue since "experts" on the issue at hand may be called to speak). This will keep the moderator of these meetings (the U.S. president) in a neutral position.
It is the responsibility of the president, as the moderator, to make sure that both sides of an issue receive equal time and to keep general order since many issues are bound to get emotional. It is also the responsibility of the president to make sure that the American Taxpayers are informed and clear on the issue so that they can vote intelligently.
Some issues will be settled in one meeting. Some will require more. The meetings will be held in various locations around the country, but not in Washington, D.C. [How long the meetings run and how many times they will be replayed on television so that all can view them is open to discussion and may vary depending on each individual television networks schedule.]
3)Voting on the issue: After all is said and done and the American Taxpayers have been properly informed by their leaders, the president will allow a closing statement from the ranking Democrat and the ranking Republican. This will be the last chance that they have to sway the American Taxpayers to their way of thinking. The next day - before the thinking of the American Taxpayers can be clouded by the various media sources - the registered voters will go to the polls and vote their conscience on the issue.
The votes will be counted and the majority will rule just as it should. The key to this process is to get as many people registered as legal voters as is possible so that the American Taxpayers are accurately represented in the voting. To help people get motivated to vote, all registered voters will be asked by the president to take the day of voting off from work.
This is only one excuse that the president will use to help the American Taxpayers get a few more days off from work each year. Though it may affect the economy ever so slightly it is "President Tony's" view that the American Taxpayers are working too much, too fast, and need time off to spend with their families or partake in recreational activities.
If we can vote on one issue per month that would be 12 extra days per year that the American Taxpayers could take off. Those who are wringing their hands over the affect that this would have on the economy need to remember that the American Taxpayers are the ones who make this economy. If they feel like they are being driven too hard and want a few extra days off, then that is what they will get if the American Taxpayer party takes the White House in 2008. A few extra days off for the over productive American workers will not cause the world to end even though it may mean that there is less tax money for our leaders to give away to foreign countries (who only tolerate us because we give them things).
The results of the voters will be given to your elected representatives in Congress (and announced publicly) who will enact the will of the American Taxpayers immediately. There will be no need for delays or squabbling by legislators who didn't get their way in the outcome of the vote. Those representatives who stiffen their necks and dissent from the will of the people will be publicly recognized, publicly reprimanded by the president, and exposed as someone who has a hidden agenda.
The American Taxpayers who are represented by this dissenter will be given the opportunity to recall him or her and replace him with someone who will properly represent them. Opposition to the will of the American Taxpayers will not be tolerated because it is counter productive and will slow down the "Meet and Vote" process.
In summary, the "Meet and Vote" program will bring real change that is in accordance with what the American Taxpayers want. Will there be mistakes? Probably, since many of the issues are very complex. But how many mistakes have our leaders made? The important thing and the goal of the "Meet and Vote" program is to restore government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
There are bound to be some snags at first since the American Taxpayers are not used to this new opportunity, but once we all get the hang of how this works, the American Taxpayers will like it. [It may be a good idea to do a "dry run" one time to see how smooth the process is going to be.] Though this system of implementing the will of the people is only being thought of as useful for the 2008 - 2012 administration (to correct the course of our nation), the American Taxpayers may want to continue it. That will be up to the voters in 2012.
So there it is - how can it be more simple? Pick an issue, "Meet" and get informed on the issue, "Vote" on the issue, and enact the will of the majority. It's the "Meet and Vote" program and you're going to like it. It will change our nation and restore confidence in the federal government. The American Taxpayers will actually feel the dark cloud of run away government lift and will once again experience hope for the future.
