President Bush
I don't want to use this opportunity to attack President Bush even though I would like to vent a few frustrations. I'll be as nice as I can. I'm sure that I am not the only one who voted for President Bush who is disappointed in how this has all turned out for him.
Actually, if he hadn't tried to democratize Iraq he would be looking pretty good. But he did, so he's not. Remember the good old days when looking down on a president was due to his foolish sexual exploits in the White House? That all seems like small potatoes now as we have watched the last few years play out. Even though I was not a fan of Mr. Clintons (and I felt that he disgraced the presidency, and should have been removed from office) I must admit that I don't remember anyone dying over his sexual behavior.
This is some serious stuff going on over there in Iraq. No one seems to know exactly how many of the Iraqi people have died in all of this but estimates are anywhere from 50,000 to 650,000. How many American mothers have lost their sons to this cause? And how many young men will have to live out the rest of their days with one arm or one leg because of the attempt to democratize Muslims in the heart of "Muslim Central"?
It's easy now days to jump on the "I hate Bush" bandwagon that has gained worldwide favor but we do need to remember that he had some very hard decisions to make after 9/11. He had to make these decisions based on information that you and I were not privy to - some of which has now proven to have been bogus.
The information that you and I had was filtered through the media while he was getting advise and top secret information from the highest levels. We'll give him that. [The problem is that any retaliatory actions that he would take after 9/11 would have worldwide consequences. Little did we know.]
Taking Saddam Hussein out and clearing his country of any potential weapons of mass destruction was not a bad idea. Trying to democratize the Iraqi Muslims was. Now his legacy will probably go something like this, "The American president who learned the hard way that Muslims don't want to be like 'Christian Crusaders', don't want their form of government, don't want them occupying their land and will kill everyone of them that they possibly can."
President Bush and his advisors have shown a lack of understanding in some very basic areas concerning Islam and how to deal with the Muslims in the Middle East. Trying to put "Little America" in the middle of "Muslim Central" is quite obviously naive and a slap in the face to those people (who have been humiliated enough over the last 100 years). That's for sure.
The fact that President Bush and his advisors didn't understand (or did they?) that religion and politics always go together when Muslims are given the freedom to choose is alarming and answers a lot of questions. Could they have possibly thought that if given the chance the Iraqi people would want to be like Christianized America? A quick glance at the Iraq Constitution - that the Iraqi people wrote - should clear that up.
As we look back it probably would have been better if the Bush administration, who either doesn't understand Islam or doesn't care what the Muslims want, would have given a lot more thought to their plans before setting up shop in Iraq. President Bush and his advisors have also miscalculated the stress and strain on the American Taxpayers over all of this as we have watched the death toll among young American military personnel rise for a cause that most of us have had a bad feeling about all along. They failed to calculate the wear and tear on our military equipment, the huge debt that the American Taxpayers would have to go into over this endeavor and the continual turmoil that has made the American people tired, weary of their government and suspicious of their leaders because of their unwillingness to listen to the people.
This is all like a bad nightmare to the American Taxpayers who want an end to it. That's what the polls show - overwhelmingly. It seems to many of us that our government just put us through this in the 60's and 70's - all to no avail. There is simply no reason for the American Taxpayers to expend this much emotional energy, military resources, and tax money on such a questionable cause. I think that we are all tired of these long term military conflicts that our leaders get us into in their attempts to make everybody be like us. Maybe we can learn a lesson this time around.
Can I vent one more problem that I have had with President Bush from the beginning? It has always disturbed me that President Bush belongs to a secret society. The "Skull and Crossbones" society that he belongs to may be nothing more than a group of good ole boys who get together to act stupid - as men are apt to do (and do very well). I really don't know what it's all about. But it really bothered me when I heard that both him and the Democratic presidential candidate in 2004, John Kerry, were members of this strange sounding "secret society".
This group had a member in place to win the presidency no matter who won and I thought that rather odd. No one should ever be allowed to be president of the United States of America if he has pledged allegiance to any secret society (yes, I too have heard that President Washington was a member of the Masonic lodge - which also seems to lurk in the shadows, but that doesn't make it right).
We, the American Taxpayers, do not know the agenda of this secret society. As far as we know they could be a "let's all get crazy and take over the Middle East and use the American military to kill all of the Muslims" club. Who knows since it's "secret"? I think that it would only be fair to the American Taxpayers if President Bush would publicly renounce any association with this group and their cause.
Publicly reaffirming his allegiance to his sworn duties as president of the United States (only) is the right thing to do and would alleviate all suspicions that the American Taxpayers might have concerning his policies. A refusal by the president to renounce all affiliation with the "Skull and Crossbones" secret society would assure us that there is a conflict of interests that the American Taxpayers would not approve of. He should not be allowed to laugh off this request or turn the tables on us by claiming a witch hunt.
Any attempt to stall this request would speak volumes to those of us who are suspicious. Maybe I am making too much of this, I don't know. I do know that the American Taxpayers deserve to know for sure that their president has their best interests at heart and that he has no other allegiance that would cause a conflict of interests when it comes to doing his sworn duties as president.
If he would desire to rejoin the "Skull and Crossbones" after he leaves office that is his choice. But while he is president he should not be allowed to be a member of any secret society.
It appears that the Bush administration is constantly on the defense these days, trying to justify this decision and that. It was the same story when Clinton was in the White House - just for different reasons. Have you had enough of the same ole? Have you noticed through the years that it doesn't matter whether a Democrat or Republican leads us, the American Taxpayers never get the real change that we want?
Bad decision making seems to be compounded on bad decision making no matter who is leading us. In 2008 it is our chance to grab the White House away from the Democrats and Republicans and then force them all to listen to the people (using the "Meet and Vote" program). It's a shame that we have to force our leaders to work together, but if that is what it takes to turn this nation around then so be it. Your vote for the American Taxpayer party presidential and vice presidential candidates in 2008 would be appreciated.
[To learn more about the "Meet and Vote" program go to Index 1 - Agenda. If you don't understand this program you won't understand how I will govern. This program alone is why you should vote the American Taxpayer party in 2008. It will make me, your new president, look real good compared with what we have been dealing with for the last few decades.
I'm not claiming to have all of the answers to our nations problems nor am I on a power trip as someone who has to have his way. I think that we have had enough of that. My "platform" is that the American Taxpayers themselves are smart enough to decide what is right for them - if they are properly informed on an issue and allowed to vote on it. At that point the only responsibility of our elected representatives will be to enact the will of the people into law.
All of their finger pointing, arguing, gridlock, indecision, and the outside influences that separate them from the will of the people don't matter since they no longer come into play. That is what the "Meet and Vote" program is all about.
My thinking is that the majority of the people will get it right the majority of the time, making our system of government work better and automatically making the American Taxpayers more trusting of what is going on in Washington. As your new president my responsibility will be to make sure that you are properly informed before you vote. That is the key to making this work. The goal of all of this is to make our government by the people, for the people, and of the people.]
